Canadian Rock

Went to see FIVE MAN ELECTRICAL BAND in concert Saturday Night. They are a local Ottawa band but seldom and I mean seldom plays here. It's been years since!!! (Special Guest Group THE STINGRAYS, which cover '50s and '60s old Rock & Roll, another local outfit stole the show!!!). They add comedy to the show complete with shiny pink jackets, black pants and sleek greasy hair. Check those guys out if you can. As for FMEB...they did have a good show but most are new members and they don't have the original sound.

Sunday (last night) went to see HELIX. Canadian Metal Band still rockin' after 36 years. Got 16 different guitar picks from the band. Also, Brian Volmer signed a DVD I bought at the show.

I took 610 digital pics of these two concerts. I'm dowloading them right now in my file. Will do the same the following two shows:

Next Friday Night will be going to see HONEYMOON SUITE. Met them while I lived in Toronto. They are originally from Niagara Falls. Looking forward to see them in action again.

Next Saturday Night will be seeing THE STAMPEDERS again in concert. Saw them two years ago and we still keep in touch through emails. Guys are awesome and brings back many sweet memories.

Any of you guys seen any of these Canadian Bands in concert?

Like this song and yes I was a long haired freaky person in the 70s. lol Signs was originally released in 1970 as the B-side to the unsuccessful single "Hello Melinda Goodbye" Re-released in 1971 on the A-side, Signs reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Interesting to hear that Honeymoon Suite and Helix are still alive, never mind performing. Would never have know otherwise.

Free concerts for 10 days, Johnny. What am I supposed to do...cap CFL relentlessly on the Westboro Beach all day and a local pub all night?

Those concerts were available in my city and jumped aboard. There's others I will attend next month.

I happen to know personally many Canadian Rockers. I have an extensive souvenir/memorabilia collection.

Like to dazzle with many of them. I attend concerts to take pictures for my future Canadian Rock Archive Book and possibly Docu DVD. I have a few editors willing to work with my stuff when I'm ready.

Feel free to ask questions even if you've never agreed with what I do or my sports picking.

Yes, and it's their biggest Hit but I personally prefer "I'm a Stranger Here" myself

Five Man Electrical Band

Ottawa ’s very own 70’s rock band and known for there song “Signs”. The Five Man Electrical Band has history dating back to 1964, when they were known as the Staccatos. Although they didn’t get as much attention as the Beatles or Bee Gees, this group of guys have some serious talent and are on the same playing field as the Beatles. Past hit singles that you should check out are “Absolutely Right”, “Werewolf”, and “I’m a Stranger Here”.

*They are a local band yet haven't played here in ages. They just came back from a 2-year Tour

Most '80s Rock Bands are still alive...they just don't play arenas anymore such as the many I've seen at Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens or Ottawa's Civic Centre. As teenagers we spent like city water then but most have responsibilities (kids) now or have outgrown the entertainment scene. The demand is not there. I hate to say this but in a way "Rock is Dead"...eeeeeeeeeek!!!
