The Stones are the greatest rock 'n' roll band of all-time, BUT the Beatles transcended music to become a cultural phenomenon. They changed the face of popular music as we know it today.

Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

As it should be with the two best remaining.

The Beatles opened up my dreams on The Ed Sullivan Show back in the Sixties.

Most of us that plays guitar started playing rhythm chords to The Beatles music--over and over again--not the Rolling Stones.

Most Beatles lyrics (and music) is about LOVE--they took the world by storm; the Stones walked the other side of the street sidewalk with bluesy riffs that set the stage for the PEACE or HIPPY era...then the Beatles followed.

The early edition of the Rolling Stones with Brian Jones is impeccable in sound. The departure of Bill Wyman took another big dent in the quality structure. I find the longer the band exists the more foolish they look now.

With other comments from members it will help me make the proper vote later on...even if its not the popular choice then.

just look at what happened when John Lennon was killed. How it literally stunned not just the nation, but an entire generation.

The Beatles transcended (and in turn re-made) popular music.

Yes, I remember that night very well...and the week to follow...and the month to follow. The Christmas Season seemed to have been dedicated to him and his vision--not really The Beatles...but since LOVE was a big part of this band then I must concur with your thought.

John Lennon s solo album sales reached the roof. Everybody was buying it. You couldnt get one anywhere without paying a premium. How much are they worth nowadays...$25-$30 each maybe...still better than a dime or a quarter.

And thinking about it now, he lives inside us to this day!

Got me thinking a bit here Ricky...even if the answer is straightforward:

Definitely The Beatles for me!

I had two chances to see the ROLLING STONES live and I passed. One was for free!

The ROLLING STONES live are outrageous--too much useless energy spent by Mick on stage--acts like a dumb ass--not what I what to see in a live performance. The other members keep grinning and shaking their head in !@#$. The STONES from a studio work anytime for me.

I cant stand the ROLLING STONES live albums either...THE BEATLES few live albums seem much better...at least I dont detest listening to them live.
