"Play-in" round as #5, 6, 7 and 8? In other words, to give these bands a chance in the playoffs or at the polling booth?

Some of these bands I've never heard of, never mind their music. I just hope they've been around for more than a decade to justify their nomination.

I think Creedence Clearwater Revival should get in there before lots of others. I think a nomination should have the test of time through 2 or 3 decades of studio work and live performances as well.

I think anybody can record a studio album. The true test of a band is a live concert. Where would Alan Parsons fit-in then?

I'll just vote late tonight or tomorrow to see if there's comments on this.

Never mind, I'll just damn vote later

Basically the tourney is going to be 64 teams with 4 brackets of 16 just like the NCAA basketball tourney.

We had more than 64 bands from the nomination thread so I took all the bands with more than one nomination and immediately advanced them into the tourney.

These are all the bands that members nominated with only 1 nomination so we need to cut this list down to 35 bands that would make the tourney.

The #1 seeds in each region will be the bands with the most nominations and on down the line.

I hope this makes a little bit of sense.

They actually have 4 big hits on their "The Best of Ratt" album. They're good, but...

I'd replace Ratt with Wings...as in Paul McCartney & Wings in no time.

As of now,

Tom Petty 8; Foo Fighters 7

I've heard the name FOO a couple times, but music? No.

I mean, Tom is the guy that will appear at the half-time show in the Super Bowl. How can this be so close?

Must be the Vegetarians!

I remember the first 2 albums by Slade from my next older bro's record collection. No matter how hard I tried, I still managed to put two scratches per record...1) when I dropped the needle on; 2) when I zipped the needle off. Never could understand why he was always on my case. Glam Rock was a fad...didn't even last a decade. To think my older brothers wore "Elton John boots" and "Elephant pants" (bell-bottoms) to school brings a good laugh. Yeah, it was the post-hippie era...I guess that's the profile of that voter--lol.

Absolutely. I still play their stuff once in a while. But I wouldn't go so far as inking them as the greatest band ever.

To someone that was never exposed to them, they'd probably think that "Round and Round" , "Dance", "Shame, Shame, Shame" (to name a few) were recently released cuz they sound very much like today's ytechnology.

I prefer Foreigner to Ratt for that era.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Styx or Queensryche, Nazareth or Bad Company, Genesis or Whitesnake, Deep Purple or Scorpions in there. I guess I'm out of touch. It must be me.
