Unhappy Cappers Mall mourns one of our own and one of the orginal members - RIP

Hi everyone:

I wanted to let you all know that we have lost one of our own.

Rambler333 (Dan) was one of the original members here at Cappers Mall. He was a very nice guy whom many of us got to know on the board. Most of you know his long battle with Cancer and he never stopped battling but time finally ran out.

Rambler's son is also a member here (mudville) and Eric (mudville) could use a thought and a prayer.

Dan was one of my favorite members of all time. Many of you knew him as the Parlay Man. One thing I new for sure is he was a GOOD MAN in life.

Cappers Mall was a place where he could come and get away. I am glad he was able to do that at times.

-----------------------------------

Below is the obituary.

Daniel Harold Maxim Jr.

WINTHROP -- Daniel Harold Maxim Jr., 58, died Thursday, April 20, 2006, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Gray Birch, in Augusta.

Danny was born in Augusta on July 20, 1947, the son of Daniel Harold and Marjorie (Houseworth) Maxim.

He grew up in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1965. He served in Vietnam with the Air Force, achieving the rank of sergeant.

In 1968, he married Anita Cammack. They later moved to New Jersey for two years before returning to Maine in the early 1970s.

He was an active member of Alfred W. Maxwell American Legion Post 40, where he held numerous posts and positions over the years.

Danny was a great father and friend and would do anything for anyone. He especially enjoyed time spent with his family, and spent many hours coaching his children in various sports activities.

He also enjoyed gardening, playing pool and collecting baseball cards, and he was a big Red Sox fan.

Danny was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Anita (Cammack) Maxim, on July 30, 2005.

He will be deeply missed by his son, Eric Maxim, and his wife, Katy, of Durham; his daughters, Tresa Maxim of Winthrop and Kristi Marschall and her husband, James, of Readfield; his mother, Marjorie Maxim, of Winthrop; his sister, Sally Gilley and her husband, Ken, of Winthrop; and his granddaughter, Alyson Jay Marschall, of Readfield.
