casino-roulette question

Was having a discussion with a friend. I always thought roulette had both 0 AND 00. He reackons the one he most recently played just had 0 and no 00.
Whats the deal do most or all casinos have both or just 0??

in case it wasnt clear enough...

by increasing teh number of pockets by 1 and leaving the payouts the same as in european roulette... the casino increases it's house 'advantage' and increases the loss per wager of the players:

american:
-1*37/38 + 35*1/38 = -0.0526

european:
-1*36/37 + 35*1/37 = -0.0270

so guys... DON'T play roulette... rather burn 1% of the money that you wanted to wager... that's +ev
