Question CBA in all sports coming to a head

They going at it in NFL.

NBA is next.

MLB CBA expires in Dec of 2011 (maybe 2012)

NHL still never recovered.

Kenny Williams said yesterday what a lot of people are thinking regarding Pujols

Do you think we are finally seeing sports & salaries topped out. Have fans finally had enough?

Or is this nothing new, nothing changes & salaries continue to sky rocket?

they are all greedy as ****

most sports revenues are growing, now they are just fighting over the shares of those revenues. so to answer the question, no the fans havent had enough because they keep paying more and watching

Well the fans arent selling out all the stadiums anymore & it's more than the economy. So I think they are losing a small percentage of fans with the non sense.

New owner for the Sabres said he is willing to lose money to get a better product on the ice. As long as you have billionaire owners with a passion for their team it will not end.

I think it's the owners that are to blame... they keep paying the money...

What these guys need to realize is, if you keep beating down the little guy, you are going to kill him and your league will suffer the consequences...

As for the fans, yes, I think they've had enough... it's VERY expensive to got to games these days... Obviously people have different priorities and what-not, but going to a game is simply not as option for half the country (if not more)... Corporations are also to blame for the inflated ticket prices... they keep buying them up... although I've seen that drop off a bit...

As for the players... as much as we hate it, you can't blame them for asking... You're never going to get something you don't ask for in life... Yes ther are greedy and I don't believe they deserve to get 1/2 of the revenue like they think.. It's the owners that are taking all the risk and headache. They should be making the lion's share.

Baseball needs a cap for sure
The NBA needs to contract (not nough talent to go around)
NFL - they just need to get a deal done and they will be fine.
NHL - I'm not sure what to think about it... they did have that stoppage that I think helped reset how things are done.

the empty stadiums are because of the bloody prices! with all the seat licensing, what were they thinking??? im sure a bunch of rich people will fork out the money, but im sure there is alot of above average income people that had good season tickets but no way can afford a seat license. just ridicoulous.

from a toronto perspective.

for sideline tickets first 20 rows for a raptors game. the tickets go for a minimum of $240 each. so if someone wanted to go to a raps game with their girl or kid. its about $500 for good seats! for a team that has been cellar dwellars for every year but 3 or 4.

its absolutely sad. you will see the upper bowl filled up at raptors games, but the lower bowl, you see ALOT of empty seats.

same can be said about the maple leafs. the ticket prices are at least 3x buffalo sabres tickets and you can say the buffalo sabres have produced a better product for the last 10-20 years. HSBC arena in buffalo is just as nice as the ACC in Toronto.

ownership just keep jacking the prices up and its coming to a point where fans want to go but just cant afford it.

personally i dont really like sitting in the upper deck for games, especially regular season games. i would rather watch it on TV, but then i would not want to fork out 500 bucks for tickets either

do owners really think that the general publics salary increases at the same rate as players???

I believe the TV contracts are so large, owners can afford to thumb their noses when we mention ticket prices... and possibly just view them as a windfall...

i think in the NBA you have seen salaries top out. I look for the next CBA to be something similar to the NHL. Personally I think NBA needs to contract as many as 4 teams. The league would be much better with more of these loaded teams.

MLB I still don't think they have learned. Someone will pay Pujols and contracts will continue to go up.

It`s all greed. The owners start the greed and the players accept the greed. The fans pay for the greed and most fans pay for the greed because they are die hard fans or homers. Don`t get me wrong. I`m a fan of a few teams, but I will not let greed suck money out of me. The prices, ticket, food, drinks etc. to go see your favorite team play is out of control and it`s going to get worse.

I think NYY is mainly to blame for this... competitive advantage with the market they are in...

Athletes are the most overpaid "employees" that their are. I hope all of them have to take huge pay cuts. None of them are worth the money that they get.
