A chance to see northern lights

"The sun blasted mass quantities of plasma into space a few days ago, and the "coronal mass ejection" is headed straight for Earth. Which means we're about to get some incredible aurora displays.

Harvard astronomer Leon Golub explains that predicting space weather is an extremely inexact science, but that these times are likely to be good for viewing the solar debris as it hits our magnetic field."

There was a good chance at 3 am this morning but it was too cloudy in my neck of the woods. Next chances are tonight at 8 pm eastern daylight time and tomorrow morning (thursday aug 5th 2am EDT)

Northern Lights are always cool to see. Used to play in a hoops tournament every July in St. Ignace, Michigan which is just across the bridge in the Upper Peninsula. We would always camp in tents, so were out sitting by the fire late every night. Every couple of years we would get lucky enough to see them, and it was awesome.
