Cheaper Flight Then Offered

I'm looking for a one way flight from Albany, NY to Charlottesville, VA. I used Kayak and the cheapest flight I could get was $197 but a round trip is $300. Is there anyway to negotiate this price or a way to get it cheaper? If negotiating who should I call and what should I say? The date I'd like to leave is August 27th leaving after 9am or arriving no later then 3pm.

kayak uses 4 different sites and shows all 4 prices

priceline, expedia, travelocity, and cheapoair

i used to use cheapoair. anymore, the airlines site is just as cheap.

Not too many people are jumping to fly from those 2 cities.

Best of Luck, but unless you fly a lot, it is impossible to negotiate.
They have the leverage.

Only thing I could think of is getting to NYC or Boston, probably way cheaper to fly in/out of.

Or drive, it's only 8.5 hours, that's nothing.

Thanks for the info ccc, but to pay for gas to Boston/NY from where i'm at (saratoga) would cost the same in gas if i would just fly out of albany. Driving isn't an option as this is a one way trip so I won't have use of my car as I'm going down there to help move my cousin up to where i live and drive back with her.

It is a lot cheaper to fly out of Boston, only $105 but I would have to pay for a ride there and for their gas to get back to saratoga. Also I can't find a flight at the times I want. I may just end up paying for the flight out of Albany. I appreciate all the responses. If anyone has any other ideas I'm open for suggestions. I won't be booking for another week so keep them coming.
