Check out my kid playing Baseball
Hey guys, I thought it would be cool to post a couple short videos of my son playing baseball last weekend in his last tournament of the year.
He is 13 years old - 6"1 - 185 lbs and is a lefty. He throws in the mid 80's right now with a good curve, slider and fast ball. He went out for a stint with the Legionaires and will be heading to camp in October 2008 to get ready for the 2009 season.I was told by a guy named Mike Prosper that he is one of the best young talents he has seen in all his year in ball, which is over 20 years. He is the kid at bat in both videos. Enjoy the videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0RdWwj4Y_U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54zFcwyY_iw

Mr Prosper told you that he is the "best young talent" as a pitcher or batter?

The day he went out for his " so called look " , there were 2 guys there.Ken from Whitby who runs the bantam boys league and Mike who looks after all the teams in Oshawa. We show up at the ball field , Kinsmen Park.My son is introduced to the catcher for the mens hard ball team.Mike instructs my son to go for a run with the catcher to loosen up.They then do some excercises and some light throwing. He then takes the mound and is instructed to throw 30 pitches. After about the 5-6 th pitch Mike looks at me and says, man that kid throws some serious heat.I said yeah I know, and at the same time we both say, "and he's a lefty" lol. Mike signals one of the personal from the club to grab the radar gun.Guy gets set up and my son delivers an 81 MPH fastball down the middle. My son then turns and says to Mike, I can throw a curve ball and a slider.Mike stops him from throwing and looks at me and says he shouldn't be throwing any junk at his age.Mike asks my son who taught you how to throw those types of pitches, he says he learned off of the interent and some DVD videos he rented from the library. So he then continues to throw a curve and a slider.Mike looks at me and says this kid is one of the best talents ive seen in all my years in baseball. He is something special. Now in the videos, someone commented that it was softball.Well it is not softball. It is fastball , which is windmill pitching. Its an 11 inch ball. The pitching in this league is roughly 50-55 MPH. Which brings me to the batting part of things. He was put in the batting cage the same day as his pitching stint. He was hitting pitches in the 65-70 MPH range with ease.Again Mike said, he has great mechanics and he wants him to play for him in the 2009 season. The thing to is this. This kid only picked up a hard ball last year for the first time.He has only been playing ball for 3 years, started when he was 10.He has played fastball the past 3 seasons. When you are told by a guy whose been around hardball for 20+ years and whose a well respected mentor and coach, you can't help but get goosebumps.Even the guys who were there that day, now these guys were 18-22 yr olds, they thought he was a new guy coming out to play, lol. When told he was only 13, some guys laughed and said that kids bigger than me ,lol. Anyways, who doesn't enjoy talking about how proud they are of thier kids ? thanks guys
