Thumbs up Christmas giving

I didn't do a charity bet this year so I am getting ready to send a check off to my favorite charity. I give to several but my big one is Make A Wish. I urge all Mallers to give something to their favorite charities. I know times are tough but that means it is tough for them also. Merry Christmas

Salvation army does angel gifts....you get a little basic info on a kid in your area that neds help....my wife and I each get one and set a $ limit, but make it into a competition to see who can do better...I imagine the kids we have sponsored have been really happy with the gifts. Sure she always goes over our limit to win, but it really is her sponsored kid who wins.

United Way is also a terrific idea. Glad to see there are others who are giving...as long as it is a reputable place I give.

I also started a link that allows our Corporate Christmas gifts to be donated to local charities and food banks if the individual employees decide to do so. Our company offers Ham, Turkey, Cheeses, and a few other gifts. Our employees often donate their gifts and this program has become really effective.

Good thread here. I encourage everyone on this forum to donate to a good cause this time of year. I always feel great on Christmas morning knowing that I helped get a few needy kiddies some toys and food for their families.

also at our church their is a tree called the "giving tree"

you take an ornament off the tree and on the paper decoration it has the type of toy a kid has written on it or the size of some type of cloths

you buy gift -wrap and bring it back for under the tree

---my wife gets all the credit for this one----

Very cool idea. My mother-in-law got us set up through an organization where you buy a certain family gifts every year. They don't tell you who they are, just the age and sex of the kids. This gives you a pretty decent idea of what to get, and my wife is pretty good at it.

Feels good to help a family out and know that the kids will have presents under the tree.
