No, I don't think so as it is in the "language" the inner city kids can relate to.

If the example was "how many glasses of lemonade Johnny has to sell to make $5 profit after deducting expenses etc etc", the kids may not be able to relate to that.

Afterall, the purpose of schooling is to teach, and using everyday examples that the kids can relate to is effective.
