Coaching High School Football

Feeling really sorry for the school where I used to coach. Left the school about 3 years ago and the last of my kids graduated last year. In the last 2 games the kids have scored 7 points total and had 77 points scored against them. Feel bad for the kids but I told the school that this was going to happen as the people they hired had little to no experience. Bogals my mind that schools think they have to use teachers to coach football. Its embarrassing and the score last week showed just that. 57 - 0
Got a call from some of the kids parents asking if I would go out and help the team. I told them I am way to busy and they will have to rely on the coaches the school picked. Its sad to see teachers collecting checks for a job they suck at. Wish I had the time to help but this school is on its way down as kids are leaving for other schools. Teachers suck at coaching football.

Pretty bold statement to make. There are plenty of good teachers that can coach. In the end it comes down to passion for what you are doing.

If the coaches are truly just coaching because it is a way to supplement their income then it probably will be poor results. I really feel like a lot of time the parents think their kid is way better than he actually is.

I remember my HS team and it was pretty sad. All the coach wanted to do was run the ball, thats it! I can't tell you how frustrated I was, because every team would line the box with so many defenders, we would be lucky to get maybe 2 yards on a play. Needless to say, we got blown out every game & it was a disgrace.

For what its worth my Son does not play on this team. I was wrong about this team, the first game they lost 44 - 0 and the game this week they lost 57 - 0. 101 - 0 in 2 games and the school today still thinks its the kids and not the coach. My god my wife could do a better job.

steel wasn't saying you thought your kid was better than he was. making a general statement about parents.

Also wasn't saying the coach of that team isn't a horrible coach. Was pointing out your broad statement of teachers suck at coaching football was bold statement.

Your 100% correct that it was a broad statement. Small schools are getting killed by horrible coaching. Talked to a kid today that told me they only suit up in full pads once a week.
