Companies start laying groundwork for online poker.

Quote:
Consultants have gone so far as to estimate which U.S. states would produce the largest gross gaming yield in a regulated environment.

H2Capital projected that the annual take would be $2.3 billion in California, $1.1 billion in Texas and New York, $1 billion in Florida, $700 million in Illinois, $660 million in Pennsylvania, $500 million in Massachusetts and Ohio, $490 million in New Jersey and Michigan and an average of $200 million in the rest of the states.

Legalize and tax it!

From todays LV Sun:

South Point plans free online poker website

Associated Press

Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 | 9:55 a.m.

A Las Vegas casino is launching a free online poker website tied to the program it uses to determine perks for frequent gamblers, with an eye toward launching a site to play for real money if it becomes explicitly legal in the United States.

South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa owner Michael Gaughan is expected to announce Wednesday that the site will launch Thursday for members of its casino loyalty program and Oct. 17 for the public.

Gaughan tells The Associated Press the site is a first step in being ahead of the pack if federal or state lawmakers decide to explicitly allow casinos to operate Internet poker.

Casinos have pursued Internet poker more eagerly since federal indictments brought down the three largest sites that offered poker gambling to Americans.

I am all for them legalizing and taxing it. $660 million for Pennsylvania. I just dont think I would be able to leave large sums in, and there are always people trying to cheat or scam you out of money online. Just read too much on poker forums of disaster stories and I am glad I got all mine out a few years ago.

Though taxing it, it seems like when casinos came to PA that was the big savior for taxes, but it doesnt seem to have helped that much
