ITunes will sometimes cause this. If you just recently installed that it might be the problem.

Also go to Control Panel>Add Remove Programs and see if there is a program called WinSrvReg. Sometimes while browsing harmless internet sites you will pick this up, it is rare but worth a look. Uninstall it if it is there.

I imagine you have restarted but if not give it a try.

i will ask a question in this thread too...i have a lap top and am running xp..when i turned it on today i started up and it is in semi classic mode (tray and start button classic style but the paneling on the menu is xp style)...my network connections are erased and when looking for the sound it says no device available...the network icon is not in the tray and neither is the volume icon...i tried doing system restore and it wont let me...it only has today's date available to revert back to...can anyone tell me what happened and what i can do to resolve this problem? when looking at the back of my computer where the lan cable is it is showing activity as being connected to the internet...but i can't actually do anything
