Computer Savvy?

My computer will only start up in safe mode now.

I cant get any system restore points for some reason as they dont exist any longer and when i load up my system recovery CD it says the CPU needs to shut down so it can fire back up again and then I cant get that to run either....what can I do now?

PEACE

Did not know Toshiba would still be willing to help me 2 1/2 years after I bought this thing but they did and next time I buy a laptop I will remember this

back up all your files in safe mode, throw your computer out a window and buy a new one, would be my only advice

Spoke with someone at Best Buy and they told me that automatic Windows updates are causing some Vista OS to crash. Believe it or not I tried to reboot again this afternoon and I crashed again and had to do another system recovery......needless to say I have turned off my automatic updates but I will not buy another computer preloaded with Vista and until Windows 7 comes out next month thats all that is available.

When I tried to reload my wireless card software I had problems and thats what caused me to reboot and then the crash.....hopefully tomorrow when I hit the road again and need my wireless card the software will load easily.

Windows plays the scare card saying that I need those auto updates but I am not messing with it anymore. Did anyone else hear anything about some Vista crashes from some auto updated software from Microsoft?

I have no problems with Toshiba at all.....decent products, nice value and decent support.

Recently bought a 20" LCD w/DVD for my daughter on Amazon for only $230 and then bought the 26" LCD for my bedroom for only $330.

As far as computers that I saw locally at Best Buy I saw a couple of Toshibas. A $299 model with a single core processor and a dual core for $399. Both very good deals for what I do with a computer and that is basically just go online, music & family pics and stuff. Best Buy I feel is the best for computers.

I seriously considered breaking the mother****er but something told me that my computer was still in good shape and that something else was the problem and I think I was correct......I swear I think Microsoft ruins the shit on purpose so I have to buy more of their products....what timing with the new Windows 7 ha?

I have a brand new VAIO and just a few days ago it started going to the blue screen of death and crashing over and over. Windows error reporting came up and said that a particular Microsoft update was causing the crashes and that I needed to uninstall it.

I still have the webpage that Microsoft sent me too: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/KB973879

See if by some chance this is what's going on with yours.

This is exactly what happened at it happened twice to me. I had to turn off automatic updates to make sure it wont happen a 3rd time. I will use that link you have and try to see exactly which update it is and turn that one off. Just another example of why Vista stinks. Thanks for the link, hopefully it will help me.

Pimp-- One of the best decisions I ever made was to get a Mac, there is no virus software needed, no ad-ware, it boots up in 30 sec and you are up and running. I've had mine for three years now and it runs as smooth as the day I got it. Nothing to the learning curve.
