Congratulations Threads?

While we are in the business of cleaning up cappersmall. Can someone explain to me the use or need for this congratulations threads?

I understand when it is a true milestone. hey congratulations you reached 10k, 20k, 30k, etc etc. But i see this congrats threads like "congrats to joeschmo for reaching 25 posts!!!!one!11!!"

It is none of my business but im curious what is up with that? to me its causing unnecessary attention; like asking about a poster, which is a no-no.

thoughts?

PS. Jack, this not meant as a personal attack; i am just curious cause i see this threads quite a bit.

Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

lmao Zoom, never seen the 25 or less yet.

But even at 10,000 posts the quality is often watered down quite a bit when there's 3,000 GL, 3,000 LOL, 3,000 Nice Hit!, and 1,000 smileys.

There's a big diff in being a nice person and a good person.

So quantity of posts is not relative to its' quality.

I don't think it's sheer lazyness. It's a kwik post count with minimal effort to boast oneself and be looked at by newcomers.

I most often read the first post in one's thread picks and see what he has to say...I don't go back cuz the succeeding posts will more likely be all GL anyway.

On the plus side, it offers encouragement.

I assume you are talking about in the proline forum. I don't really have a comment on it. I don't think it hurts anyone by doing it in that section. It's the personal bashing and constant lack of respect for others that I am trying to clean up because that is the way CM used to be and needs to get back to being

If you are talking about something else, let me know

nah, im just talking about the proline sections (i just noticed thats the section with the most occurrences). i just figured is attention whorish to it. Would it be ok if we did it in every section of the forum? im just owndering whats so special about hitting 1k posts or whatever? is it not enough to wish good luck when they post and talk about sports related topics? im just wondering... i guess it might be just me.

If it was in every section forum it might be a problem. In the proline section, they don't seem to mind it so I have never really thought about it. I kind of let them do their own thing in there. A lot of other things to worry about first for me but I do understand the point

The proline section is a forum totally by itself because that sports lottery game is very different than the Vegas game or Offshore Sportsbooks offers. Besides, many know each other personally in there. It's a lil' click and that's the way they want it whether anybody else agrees or not.
