A couple stock picks

I don't know how many of you guys play the market but we used to have a stock forum here and so I figured I'd let you know of a couple that I am in and have some big upside:

Dendreon (DNDN): Currently trading at $32, I have been in since $22 and currently own 1,000 shares, this company has huge potential. For those of you that don't know Dendreon's story, they are a pharma company based out of Seattle that is working on cancer treatments. Their first big one that is set for FDA approval by May 1st is called Provenge which is for prostate cancer. Dendreon is unique in that what they do is actually train white blood cells to destroy a particular cancer. The FDA has been gunshy on approval because this is the first immunotherapy that they will be approving. The FDA panel recommended approval in 2007 but the FDA itself wanted more study. From all accounts it looks like approval is almost a sure thing. This Friday DNDN will be presenting the latest findings from the Phase III trials. Provenge is first only going to be used on late stage Prostate cancer but if successful will be looked at for earlier stage and can also be expanded to possibly head and neck as well as breast cancer. They have other drugs in early trials but Provenge is the biggy at this point, the oncology world is waiting for this treatment and is expected to welcome it with open arms. My price target is $60+ after approval, beginning of 2011 is $120 with a 3 year target of $250-$350 based on sales estimates. DNDN could be an absolute game changer in cancer treatment, getting us away from the shitty chemo treatments and getting us to actually turn on our immune systems to fight the disease. Obviously, and FDA rejection totally screws the stock but I see this as a 10-20% risk.

Genvac (GNVC): Another biotech, the stock is currently trading around $2.40, I have been in since $1.70 and have staked 10,000 shares worth of this company. This is one of those companies that you take a shot at a big win early and just accept losing your capital if things don't go well. They are working on a treatment for pancreatic cancer called TNFerade, if approved it will be the ONLY treatment for this disease. Right now if you do not catch the disease very early it is a death sentence. It has shown a lot of promise and results of latest trials are expected by the end of March. To give prospective, DNDN was $3.00 a year ago. GNVC has a couple other drugs in the market and/or in late stage trials as well as a partnership with a big pharma company. There is a lot of risk in these things but reward can be huge if you nail one of these thing early and I think of all the biotech's in this position GNVC is the best prospect out there right now due to the upside of TNFerade. If things go well with the March results I think we can see $12-$15 a share and skys the limit if the treatment gets full approval.

So, there are two companies worth taking a look at if you are someone who likes playing the market, remember this is not a recommendation to buy and future results cannot be based on past performance!

I have a serious problem with GNVC:
Firstly: 19 Feb'10 press release they announce a new contract with the Department of Homeland Security to continue the development of adenovector-based vaccine against foot and mouth disease. Which I don't get, why HMS, this boggles my mind. Here is where my suspicion comes in looking at the chart around the 15 Feb'10 a move upward from 1.70 to 2.50 before the press release which can happen if news is leaked out before hand.

Secondly: Here is the kicker 01 Mar'10 BioMed Realty Trust acquires 2 buildings of which GNVC is a tenant in 1 of the building .
Here is the biggie go back and read the 15 Jan'10 press release. Just tread carefully people do your Due Diligence with this one.

I really don't see any issues with the movement of the stock, the stock price reacted to news of the HMS contract, which really wasn't a big deal, but being a low priced stock, the speculators will drive it up on any news. The focus should be on TNFerade. If TNFerade gets good news in March the stock price will jump and if fully approved $50 is well within reach or higher.

TY Titans!

DNDN running wild today after a bogus report that made the stock drop premarket was proven false. 14 million shares traded already, avg vol is 2.5 million. Cramer, Milken and all of their corrupt partners can't stop DNDN!

DNDN and GNVC both had very good updates on their respective clinical trials. DNDN in particular had a great update which showed that Provenge increases life of patients by 40%, the drug hit or exceeded all targets in the trials and it will be interesting to see what kind of move the stock makes tomorrow. It is up $1.50 or so after hours and between the news and shorts possibly starting to cover their asses as approval now looks inevitable the upward momentum could be strong tomorrow. DNDN presents at an oncology conference on Friday, there are some who believe that the FDA will announce approval of Provenge prior to the CEO speaking at the conference. I'm not counting on it, but I do expect the CEO, Dr. Gold to expand on the new findings and I would be shocked if the FDA actually waits til May 1st to approve at this point. Very exciting time for Dendreon shareholders. Genvac is heating up as well but we are still two weeks away from the big news, but if today's update is a sign of things to come the FDA findings in two weeks should be very encouraging and run the stock price up, what will be interesting is what the FDA tells Genvac to do going forward, if the FDA okays Genvac to expand it's study to a new patient set or fast tracks TnFerade it could lead the way to Genvac really moving up big.

If anyone wants to see the latest findings just check out the Yahoo Finance pages and you will get tons of info. Also, I normally hate the message boards other than being for a great laugh, but there are some great articles and videos (videos in particular) on GNVC which really can give you a great sense of the company if you are interested.

So GNVC shit the bed, granted, they have potential with other cancers, but we are a couple years off from any real progress with trials.

But, today, Dendreon got approval for Provenge, the first of it's kind therapy for cancer. The stock shot up over 25% on the news and this is just the beginning. Some suspect a buyout, which would probably be priced at $110 or so, I, however do not want a buyout as with Provenge alone the stock should hit $90+ by year end and with sales of Provenge and the prospect of Neuvenge on the horizon we are looking at a company that could easily be priced at $250+ in the next couple of years. I'm excited not only for the money I am making in this company, but also for all those suffering from prostate cancer that now have hope that a cure is on the way and even beyond that we finally have a treatment that activates one's own immune system to fight the disease instead of brutal treatments like chemo.
