Cranberry Sauce

Personally, never liked it, but most of my experience was with canned stuff.

My wife cooked sauce last Thanksgiving, just cranberries and sugar boiled down. It was okay. Last Xmas, I looked up recipes for sauces, and found one to try. Made it three times now. Great!

Best cranberry sauce recipe ever:

Ingredients

Basic cranberry sauce has only three ingredients: cranberries, sugar and water. If you want a sweeter recipe, you'll want to add more sugar; if you like a more tart recipe, just cut back on the sugar.
This recipe will serve 6-8 people. Want to serve more people? Just double the recipe.

Need:
One pot large enough to hold 8 cups
3 cups fresh cranberries
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup water

Preparation

Pour the sugar and water into the pot.

Stir until the sugar dissolves.

Boil the mixture.

Pour in the cranberries.

Boil. The cranberries will pop. When they do, they release pectin, which will make the cranberry sauce gel.

****Add 1 cup raisins, 1 tablespoon crystal ginger (minced) and 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice****

If you like a jellylike sauce, boil the cranberries for five minutes. If you like sauce the same consistency as sauce from a can, boil them for ten. (Personally, I'm cooking it about 8 minutes.)

Turn off the burner.

If you like your sauce with a smoother consistency, push the contents of the pot through a sieve or strainer.

Pour the sauce into a bowl.

If you want to serve the sauce at room temperature, leave the sauce on the counter for two hours to cool. If you want to serve it cold, put it in the refrigerator for two hours to cool.

The Allspice, ginger, and raisins are what make this sauce the best!

Have your wife or girlfriend make this, or make it yourself as your contribution to the meal, then make sure everyone else knows you made it, and that you may be the best cook ever.

There.

Happy holidays, CMers!

Yes, I posted a cranberry recipe last year or the year before. Only difference is I use orange juice instead of water.

True, when you taste a homemade cranberry recipe you'll never eat from the can again.

Not only good with turkey but great with bran muffins or whatever.

If your wife made extra tell her to put it in a glass jar in the fridge and not a plastic tupperware container. The one in the glass jar will last up to a year; the one in the plastic container 3 months at the most before mold sets on top.

Cranberries suck. F*ck cranberries. Nature's red-headed stepchild of a fruit.

Try the homemade recipe and it might change you guy's mind. Cranberry Sauce is an acquired taste for distinguished people imo.

Love me some cranberry sauce with my turkey dinner, but all this time to make it home made is not worth it imo. Give me a can of oceanspray sauce and it's all good.

That's what I was trying to say by posting it. I hated cranberry sauce. Tried homemade, and it was okay. Tried the above recipe, and now it's one of the best parts of the meal. People love this recipe.
