Whats hilarious is all the people who worshiped some of these guys. Half of them weren't even all that great at all they just had unlimited funds from scamming people yet people thought they made it all from poker. I introduced one of my friends to poker, and taught him to play. Eventually he ended up ok, but then got basically obsessed with these "poker" celebs and switched his entire game around based on watching them on TV or reading their books. I would try to explain things to him, but he would never listen, and he ended up taking huge hits for it. Thousands like him, but even with all the info that has some out they still won't put 2+2 together.

These guys are a joke... the fact they are still all over TV makes me gag, and I was lucky enough to get out of FT just a couple days before.

Love how they always used to mention that TJ Cloutier has won more professional tournaments that any man in poker history. And the guy is flat broke. Poker LOL

Yea. If I ever ended up winning one of those major tourneys no way I would ever go broke. Money would be stacked away, and spread out into many different investments. A lot of people can't get away though, and will chase till its all gone. Happens all the time. That said there are a lot of pros out there, and always will be. You have to be good, and be extremely disciplined which makes these guys few and far between. I have made decent money with poker, and when everyone was attempting to "go pro" during the online boom I had a few friends always ask me why I wasn't trying... I just always thought I had the better edge with sports, and not only that I mainly played smaller stakes. Two friends of mine really made it big, and one of them won a couple entries to the WSOP even (He made a little over a million at one point). Another one of my buddies makes a lot of his income in cash games in AC. Now that online is dead I am glad I never tried to. I don't even play as much live now that online is dead because online was a GREAT way to improve your game, and more importantly stay SHARP. Without online now you would have to live in vegas to have the best chance of making it, and even then your going to be sitting at tables with much sharper players which is going to make it even harder. To make matters worse there are probably hundreds of players who have moved to vegas now that online is dead for them.

So unless online makes a come back in a legal way I think most people missed the "poker boat." That won't stop the herds from getting slaughtered in their local casinos.
