Dave NZ and his buddy...

trying to break out of Jail (just kidding Dave)

Handcuffed escapees collared by lamp post

By Toby Green
Friday, 30 January 2009

You might have thought that having evaded the courthouse guards and made it out of the building, the hard part would be over. However, two New Zealand prisoners – who made an escape attempt while handcuffed to each other – had not reckoned on a lone lamp post.
As Regan Reti, 20, and Tiranara White, 21, sprinted to freedom, they managed to run on opposite sides of the post, promptly crashing into each other and falling to the floor.
The duo made their break earlier this week as they were being taken from their cell to a courthouse in Hastings. "They fell over and were sprayed with pepper spray. But they got up and ran out of the court on to the street, across the road to a car park," police spokesman Dave Greig told the Associated Press. "That's where they met the pole – it was all over, rover."
Reti, who had just been given a sentence of more than two years for assault, pleaded guilty to escaping from custody and had a month added to his sentence. White, who was in custody for allegedly stealing a car and violating parole, did not enter a plea and is awaiting a psychiatric evaluation.
The whole escapade was caught on CCTV and has been released to the public. New Zealand's TV One News labelled the video "one of the worst escape attempts ever seen".

America have so much going on in there own country that they don't even know what possibly goes on everywhere else. TV is dominated by sport in America.

hardly dude..i will say sport is shown on the air a lot, but usually just the designated sports channels..the non sports channels fixate on other shit (whatever it is, i don't know, because i dont watch tv other than sports and an occassional soap opera)..but when sports are shown on network tv they sometimes take a back seat..case in point would be wimbledon..nbc bought the rights so they could show the key matches, but they allow shit like the today show to go on as scheduled and show those matches on tape delay..the olympics another point...especially when they are a half a day ahead of time like they were in beijing and sydney...nbc put the events on when it suited them and allowed for the other bs to stay on...but i will say the networks in usa do not devote enough time to anything outside of americentric views..imo it is pretty communistic..kind of borderline china right now..even though the networks are privately owned there still seems to be an understanding that programming outside of the usa has no place on the air..which is pretty much how china functions (with the exception of sport)..everywhere else in the world you will get foreign based tv shows, movies and news..would be a lot better if that was the case in the usa
