Dead Body Goes Unnoticed for 2 Days in Boston Public Pool
Body found in public pool 2 days after victim drowned
Updated: Wednesday, 29 Jun 2011, 6:21 PM EDT FALL RIVER (FOX25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - The body of a Fall River woman was discovered floating in a state run pool late last night, two days after she apparently drowned in that same pool. Police say lifeguards were on duty and people were swimming in the Veterans Memorial pool at Lafayette Park Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and it appears no one noticed the dead body. Investigators identified the body as 36-year-old Marie Joseph. Police say Joseph was watching her 9-year-old neighbor at the pool on Sunday when she apparently had an accident sliding down a waterside. Family friends tell FOX25 the little boy told lifeguards that she did not come up from above water but no action was taken. The Bristol County DA would not confirm if the woman’s body was in the water for two days, but did call the set of circumstances "unbelievable." The Department of Conservation and Recreation released the following statement: On behalf of the Department of Conservation and Recreation, we express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Marie Joseph. By 5:30pm today all 30 of DCR's deepwater pools will be closed while we conduct a full review of each facility's safety and operational procedures over the next 24 to 48 hours. As of this hour, the entire staff of the Veteran's Memorial Swimming Pool in Fall River has been placed on administrative leave. We will continue to cooperate fully with local and state law enforcement during their ongoing investigation.

The DA's quote of "unblievable" is an understatement here.
Wow.

Moonbattery: Corpse Sits for Hours in Canadian Waiting Room
Corpse Sits for Hours in Canadian Waiting RoomThere's no need to wait until Democrats take over the White House to see how socialized medicine will pan out. Just look north of the border: Health officials are still investigating how a man found dead at the Health Sciences Centre ER waiting area escaped the attention of medical staff for 34 hours. "Staff weren't aware he was waiting for care," said Dr. Brock Wright, chief operating officer for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, at a news conference this morning. "They didn't know he was in the queue waiting to be seen." Wright said the man had been dead "for a number of hours" before he was brought to the attention of medical staff early Sunday morning. For the sake of efficiency, maybe bureaucrats could pass a new regulation requiring the really sick patients to wait in the morgue.

Update:
FALL RIVER (CBS) — There’s another strange twist after a woman’s body was found floating in a public pool in Fall River, possibly going unnoticed for days. The mayor of Fall River says “that health inspectors from the City visited the pool on Monday and on Tuesday and inspected the facilities,” which was during the time that body was believed to be in the water. Marie Joseph was at the pool on Sunday and hadn’t been seen since. It wasn’t until Tuesday night, when some kids broke into the Veteran’s Memorial swimming pool and found Joseph’s body floating in the pool. The mayor said in a statement on Thursday that those city inspectors have been placed on administrative leave. Investigators have said that, on Sunday, 36-year-old Joseph went down a slide with a 9-year-old boy and vanished. “We’re not certain about anything other than the fact that we have a death and that this person was at the pool, and what took place with respect to the slide. Everything beyond that is absolutely under investigation,” said Samuel Sutter, the Bristol District Attorney. The pool was open to the public Monday and Tuesday with lifeguards, none of whom noticed the body under 12 feet of water.
