In my opinion yes, it will wear alot better. If your going to paint it read this first. http://www.hereandthere.org/oldhouse...re-treated.htm

Thanks for the reply victor.. Thats exactly one of the reasons i'm going with the redried pine.. it can be painted right away.

The third step that sets us apart from most pressure-treated wood is that after the wood is treated it goes back into the lumber kiln to be dried again.

Why is this step important?

Pressure-Treated Lumber that is dry when used will be stronger than non-redried Pressure-Treated Lumber. Redried wood is more dimensionally stable than non-redried (This is a fancy way of saying redried wood is less likely to warp, twist and curl than non-redried).

Oftentimes with non-redried wood you will have a problem with wood shrinking away from the nails as well as nails actually working their way out of the wood. Not so with wood that is redried.

Finally, in all of our 2x4, 2x6, 5/4x6, 1x4, 1x6, and 1x8 Pressure-Treated Lumber, we pressure treat into it a water repellant chemical. This added water repellency keeps the Pressure-Treated Lumber new looking longer.
i'll probably just spray once a year with a water repellent sealer.

i'm feeling pretty good about this.. screw composite !!

Paul only thing about Trex or Weatherbest composite is due in time i've read it fades not to mention scratches .. mint stuff out of the gate but worried about how it weathers down the road.

Did one a few years back(Not mine) and it is holding up real well.It has a 25 year warranty. If you don't screw into it and you use the clips it comes out very nice.
