DirectTV vs Dish Network

Just got a HD Plasma. I've been a loyal DirectTV customer for years and i want to upgrade to an HD DVR. If I was a new customer they'd give me the HD DVR for free, but since I'm a loyal customer they want me to cough up $300 to upgrade. If I switch to Dish Network I can get a better HD DVR for free plus other introductory discounts. I'm tempted to switch to Dish. However i've heard that Dish doesn't offer as much sports programming as DirecTV (such as NFL Sunday Ticket). Does anyone know how Dish Network compares to DirecTV? Or are there any DirecTV customers out there who've convinced DirecTV to cut them a discount on an HD DVR by threatening to switch to their competitor.

I've thought about doing that, but am afraid that they would see that i was a former customer and say that i'm not a "new subscriber" and deny me the freebies. Has this worked for anyone?

Dish is garbarge

crap signal and even shittyer equipment

no nfl network either

Stay, make the threat to leave if they dont allow you to upgrade for free and see how it goes. Cop free movie channels once a year expressing my 'dissatisfaction'... hardly watch them though, but the options always there

dude. Dish Network Owns DirectTV. seriously.

Only thing missing in Dish is the NFL sunday ticket. Everything else; Dish is much better. Their equipment is tons better than DirectTV. Much better HD DVR receiver. Their siftware is also much better. Good luck trying to find anything on DirectTV; or just looking at the channels you are subscribed for.
Look it up online and the Dish DVR is rated best of the best, better than Tivo, and better than Direct TV and cable.
