Depends on how bad, but prob 4-6 weeks at a minimum, and once you do it one time, you are far more likely to do it again and again and again, so take caution, especially if you play sports........

I dislocated my shoulder 3 times and have continuous pain especially when waking up from sleeping. I can still feel it loose and weak when lifting something heavy over my head or streatching my arm foreword. Initially the severe pain leaves after 2-3 days, then you have it in a sling for about 2 weeks, then you have about a month or two of rehab. Do the rehab!!!!!!! I didnt take the rehab seriously the first time and dislocated it twice again since. I probably need surgury to clean it up and have slight tears in my labrum and muscles ,but I'm still contemplating if I should have surgery of go thru life with some pain and discomfort.

Take rehab seriously!!! Do it all to completion and stengthen the area out as much as you can!!

yes, this is true...this happened to my brother and the shoulder started to pop out more and more frequently until he had to have it surgically repaired not to long ago. It wears away the bone i guess and they have to take some from your scapula...that is probably worst case scenario, but you should probably have it checked out before it gets too bad

I think I have sprained and dislocated everything possible . As for your shoulder...I had real bad pain for about a month. Not to be pessimisitic but your gonna feel it until the day you die man. Wait until it gets real real cold outside if you are from that kind of weather.

Can't emphasize this enough. I have had shoulder pain after my dislocation for a year, and it can often be very depressing. I didn't take the injury seriously and it won't heal. Hopefully I can do some rehab again and maybe some surgery to fix it. Please don't put it off for your sake.

If you lift it goes for that too. Make sure you have a spotter, my cousin frequently dislocates his (3-6 times a year) he was benching and no one was home and he dislocated again.

After a while it will more then likely feel normal and thats when your more then likely to do it again if its going to happen again. Just keep it in the back of your mind and you should be good.

Good luck with the therapy. It can be a b*tch but its worth doing right.

thanks guys. im hoping its not that bad of a dislocation, if thats even possible to say lol.

the doctors said that bone wise nothing looked wrong, but my arm was swollen so they said i dislocated it...or did an "in and out". i dont know what they meant. Im definately gonna take rehab and everything cause this is a SHIT feeling.

The worst part is sleeping cause im used to sleeping on my side or stomach, and now im stuck on my back in a discomfortable position. it ****in blows.

but thanks guy.
