Djokovic puts a large part of recent success to gluten free diet

The world tennis # 1's recent rich vain of form co-incides with him going on a glutten free diet. He says the diet has been a key reason for his improvment.

Personally I like the idea of it, but its so damn inconvenient

Have you ever tried it? what effect did/does it have on you?

My wife eats a gluten free diet because she is gluten intolerant. She actually gets sick, if even a little bit of gluten slips into her diet. However, unless you are gluten intolerant or have celiac disease, you will not benefit at all from switching to a gluten free diet. If Djokovic benefited from switching to a gluten free diet it was only because he had a gluten allergy or was celiac.

Yeah but if humans are gluten intolerent (and there are lots). You have to wonder how many others are but to lessor degrees, eg. it doesn't make them outright sick, but does have a negative effect.

There are a lot of people that are gluten sensitive and these individuals would definitely benefit from a gluten free diet. If you are gluten sensitive you will show symptoms after eating anything containing wheat. The most common are IBS-like stomach problems, headaches and fatigue. Gluten sensitivity is also something you can develop later in life. But again if you're not gluten sensitive or gluten intolerant or celiac, there's no benefit to going gluten free. I've been on a gluten-free diet for about 2 months now. Its to try to ameliorate my tremor. For the first couple weeks it was almost a miracle how well it worked, but has lately picked up again almost to the point of making the tremor worse. However I should say I still drink beer, though from what I have read barley is not considered to affect those that actually have celiacs diseases. Its a different protein than wheat.

Perhaps I should go without beer as well, too often lately I can't even function due to the tremor, and its becoming increasingly irritating.

Not true at all.Barley greatly affects people with gluten and wheat issues.I will attest to that. When I quit smoking, I developed or was more aware of my wheat/gluten allergy.Beer makes be feel like shit,no energy etc.

People with celiacs or a gluten allergy must stay away from barley types of beer.

The link between wheat and barley intolerance must not be a 100% correlation because I know a few people that drink beer frequently yet have been diagnosed with a wheat gluten intolerance.
