I have all 3 types of new technology (along with the tubes).

I would disagree that plasma is not the sharpest. Plasma is the only technology that is pixel perfect -- every pixel is actually in the TV itself and therefore I believe plasma is the sharpest picture. DLP is a beautiful but still projected technology, and LCD is sharp but has other issues.

LCD's IMO all suffer from the "trails" effect. If you like sports DO NOT BUY A BIG LCD! NO NO NO NO! They claim to have improved this and maybe so but not good enough for football and other fast moving balls/pucks.

DLP is a great technology, cheap, light and beautiful bright pictures. Now that they have 1080P they are especially a good deal.

Plasma to me is by far the best and you touched on the #1 issue, making sure all the pixels are firing and good. Best Buy and some other places will allow you to replace it with just a few pixels burned out, while manufacturers usually have a less generous policy. Definitely an issue but one worth working out.

If you can afford it, I say PLASMA. DLP is a fine choice also.
