Do you consider golf a major sport?

And do you consider Tiger & other golfers athletes?

Major sport for sure, In fact one of the most major sports there is. Played in nearly every country and in terms of playing numbers right near the top. Going by the defintion in the dictionary for athletes you would struggle to call many golfers "athletes who surpass" those in other sports. They are still athletes though going by the defintion.

In my mind, yes it is a major sport. In past arguments relating to this subject, I have found people that disagree either have never played the game or suck at it.

NASCAR isn't a sport - it's a competition

I don't care what anyone says... it doesn't take any sort of anthletic movement to race a car. Yes, it takes a brain, but one guy being a great athlete makes no difference in his racing ability...

just ask the old man... (Viagra) Mark Martin... What's he 55?

enough said.

I know that wasn't your point RJB, just had to put my dollar and 2 cents in.

Golfers are definitely athletes. Maybe not the prettiest, but they're athletes.

Golfers are athletes in the same sense that bowlers are athletes

Sure but to be a pro bowler you have to be much better than the average bowler just like in golf. If you can drink beer while you play your sport you are a notch below major athlete status. Golf = slo pitch softball
