Do you gamble to be "right" or to make money?

I've always been curious how other people felt about this. I know everyone likes to make money...but do you gamble more for the potential profit, or because you just like the concept that you can guess right more often than not?

Curious about other people's thoughts here

If being wrong would generate me a profit I would have zero problem with being wrong, only care about the money My bank manager doesn't care if I am right or wrong but he does care how big the cheque is

gfoots...when i was younger it was all about being right. I would get the paper and try to beat all the columnist, etc....

now, its just about the dollar, BUT...the high you get from watching it win and you know you picked a winner is still cool

money's good, but that high, I have to agree.

nothing wrong with getting extra cash, but if it were that easy, we'd all be professional gamblers right? and dont need our "8-5er".

(at least me, I could be wrong and everyone else here is a pro LOL)

I think of gambling as a fun game more than a money-maker. I really enjoy football and the rest of the year is just spot betting on golf, hoops and baseball

I gamble for purley entertainment reasons and when I make money that is just icing on the cake. I like to be right and I am a competitive person also. So that is why I do it.

Out for the money. Its a measurement of how well I did. At the end (if I did well enough) I take a trip to reward myself. I'd probably take the trip regardless of the outcome.

one thing I hate is when I have to goto work, KNOWING that the night before (on a good night) I've made 1-2K and that going to work and WORKING for 8-9 hours made me about $150-$200 ....sad realization
