Do you give money to people on the street?

bums, charities, boots for fire department. I gave a lady 5 bucks that was holding up a sign that she got laid off and was homeless and my friends jumped all over me that it was a scam! wondering if your good hearted or cheap.lol

I used to, but then I found out the squeegee guys in Montreal make 200$ before noon so I don't give anything anymore. The people that really need help usually don't or can't bring themselves to ask for it.

Kids of any kind get me to get the wallet out, basically any group like that, will always give 5 or 10 to the sports teams, minimum

We really don't have any people begging on the streets here, but I think I would help them out occasionally too

Beggars in New Orleans can earn $500+ per day. Scam. Real homeless people have a ton of public services they can take advantage of to get food, clothes, and other assistance. The schizo homeless probably won't get help.

We had a begging girl from a middle-class family get busted here in SLC a couple years ago. She would leave her parents' house every day, change into rags, hold up a sign on the street corner for a few hours, make a bunch of money, then go home. Her boyfriend always served as lookout, waiting in his car. One of our tv reporters scouted her out, filmed it for a while, and busted her on camera.

I give to a few legitimate organizations that I'm familiar with. Almost never to folks on the street. In my town they pay $25 for a permit to stand and ask for money. Anyone out there all day is almost certainly a scam.

On the other hand, I stopped at 7 Eleven last week to get a Slurpee, yes a Slurpee, Cherry if you're interested. A guy asked me for a few bucks. I asked what he needed it for, the reply was "buddy I just want a beer". I said "thanks for being ****in' honest" and bought him a 6-pack.
