Do You Have a Retirement plan ?

Just curious as to how many members have a plan?

For ex I could ask yu what is your plan.
You could say to retire at 55 or 60 .

That's an answer but not a "PLAN"

What goals have you decided upon to reach your retirement?

How muach u think u need to retire?

Balance of stock , bonds , cash etc ..

For ex I am planning it

I have Mortgage , 7 yr left
Gonna increase payments to a 6 yr

About 1/2 future savings in mutual funds ,
1/2 GIC ..

but need to buid up "cash"

As i get older i would like more excessable cash , gic's,etc
And start a cash fund also .

CO Pension also .

I 'd like to retire at 55 to travel ,
do stuff , other than just siy at home ?

I over 40 , less than 50
so figure time to thunk about it more serious

thoughts?

There is going to be a US dollar currency collapse in about 5 years or less, and all the savings, CDs, money markets, Social Security, Pensions, anything based in US dollars will be worthless.

So having a retirement plan in a traditional sense will be worthless and all the hard working middle class people will be wiped out. I'm 100%, no doubt, sure this will happen.

So you must find a way to protect yourself against this, and that is my plan.

That is the way to go for me too. Everytime I get a raise I up my contribution by a percent. See too many guys in their late 50s early 60s that can't go yet. Don't want that to be me. Want to be gone by 58

I started a standard roth ira, plan to put the maximum 5k away each year. the comapny that i work for now also has a profit sharing trust.

both of these could end up being irrelevant depending the path my career takes.

I'm still fairly young but was lucky enough to start a career a a financial adviser to really learn about some alternative savings vehicles outside of the 401k or the mattress. Been putting a lot of money into permanent life insurance. As long as you pay your premiums guaranteed that either I am going to liquidate the cash values at retirement (which is the plan) or someone in my family will be able to cash a large a very large lottery ticket. I recommended everyone look into it, ask and Ill point you towards the right companies. Cash value is not tied to the market, guaranteed to go up, and is taken tax free. Outside of that, obviously 401k and a Roth IRA. Some great things have just happened this year with Roth's, anyone who has switched jobs or anything, ask your financial person great opportunities for higher earners who wouldn't usually be able to use a Roth.
