I hired a few border jumpers...they do stats, monitor line movements and analyze game film for me in exchange for free accommodation and food.

I was also thinking about starting my own paper run.

I own my business. It is a limousine business . Keeps me hopping especially with 3 kids under 7 on the go.
The toughest part is dealing with all the taxes and crap you have to collect for the government.
Great venture if you can make it through the first year or so (usually when most new business' fail). Set you own hours, long hours, but the perks are there.

I own my business and have been in business for 18 years. Klaze is correct, if you can get thru the first year its all up hill from there. Remember that only 10% of the people own their own business. The other 90% work for someone. Their are plenty of headaches but at the end of the day I would not trade sides. Labor is a huge issue and so are self employment taxes or what other refer to as Social security. Social security is something that we are all paying into yet their will be nothing there when its our turn to retire. I have a Landscape business. I do maintenance and also do installs. They make it difficult to start new businesses but it is well worth it if you have the money to get it going. Take the chance. GL

I also own my own business.. I seen a couple guys say ya just have to get thru the 1st year.. IMO, it will take 2-3 yrs to get going, if you can get past that, your in good shape. Being your own boss is the biggest perk of starting your own business. The only person you have to answer too is your customers. Hours are usually longer, finding good help is also another issue. I would not trade it for a thing though. I started my landscape business when i was 16. A pick-up truck and a push mower is all i had when i started. I now have 4 trucks and keep 3 crews going daily, and own a nice chunk of property with a big shop. I will be opening a retail store next year sometime. It has taken me 9yrs to build this up, but it was well worth it.

Start small, but opeing your own business is a GREAT idea.

RYHenry... By the sounds of it you are in landscaping? You come out to the Grimsby area at all? Or is that out of your district? Or are you on the Buffalo side?

I can certainly get you a price . From Hamilton to the airport in Toronto or Buffalo? If not form Hamilton, then from where?
Let me know, and I can work out some numbers for you.

Don't normally fly out of Buffalo... maybe once in a blue moon
Mostly Toronto Airport... so from Grimsby area to Toronto with a prescheduled pickup... I usually just leave my car when I fly out of Hamilton...
Will need something in the next two weeks...

TCT- the posted rate from Grimsby to Pearson airport in a Sedan (1-3 people), Lincoln town car is $120.00 one way- I could knock it down to $105.00 if that works for you.
On the return it would be $10 more as we have to pay the GTAA a $10 fee to pick you up.
Let me know
