Does anyone still use checkbook registers?

My girl was giving me shit because I still use a checkbook register. I have online banking, but I feel like the register keeps me under better control.

What about you?

I use them, and check them against my online info. So does my wife.

Only way I can keep up with what I've done, planning what's about to happen automatically, and maybe what's happened that I forgot about.

agree...was able to catch a $4500 error by the bank earlier today actually. Shit would have eventually been figured out and fixed without me knowing they assured me, but I saw my online was off...went in, checked things out...turns out I was right. $4500 does not equal chump change in my world either...ridiculous.

balancing your checkbook will catch any fraud or what happened to me one time a server changed the tip amount on my credit card slip.

yeah they are good 1. you can catch bank mistakes. 2. you can keep track of your bottom line so you don't over spend. But you can use different things like a spread sheet or a money program.
