Watch Fox a little and tried to watch MSNBC to get balance but Oberman is just too stupid and far too liberal to even consider that an option. CNN is better for liberal point of view in my opinion.

In politics especially, the truth does usually lie in the middle. Every media source has a bias, even if it is subtle, from the way they pick and choose what to air or write about, to the manner in which they frame it. Fox news claims to be fair and balanced, as if they are not biased, but they are the most blatant of all news sources in their cherry picking and framing of issues. I agree with Romo, there is no one stop shop for getting the "truth".

That's why it's better to get your information from more than one source, and balance it between liberal/democratic sources and conservative/right wing sources. Politics is more like cheerleading than fact finding. Most people let their news source and political party think for them instead of thinking for themselves. That's why if you ask someone their view on one political subject you can often, with a fair degree of accuracy, predict what their views on other, completely non-related subjects are too. It's all about group think and cheerleading.

That's why I watch Fox News and why I think that they often engage in cheerleading more often than the presenting of news.

The news report is very fair and balanced on FOX, the opinion shows are very conservative but are much more factual then MSNBC or BBC. IMO

Agree.

Even on their Fox News Sunday show (which is your typical Sunday morning talking head show), when they do a roundtable discussion they ALWAYS have two from the right and two from the left to discuss the topics. NBC's Meet the Press, on the other hand, NEVER has a balanced discussion. It is always tilted to the left, with 3 from the left and one from the right.

Fox always gets slammed by the liberal dominated media, but they own the ratings. That speaks for itself.

The Fox News Channel's reporting style seems so biased and skewed that trying to obtain any real information from a news report is quite challenging imo.

It appears to me that Fox News provides info-tainment rather than reality-based news coverage.

Not too much available in Middle!

I think 60-70% of this country is Politically Moderate but most the media outlets are Very Liberal to Slightly Liberal.Even NPR is a little to the left but I find them a lot more informative then CNN(Slightly left) or MSNBC which is full of leftie loons!! Fox is without a doubt a very right news organization. It is sad they have something like Karl Rove on there network! As for as my litmus test for right or left,I will use NPR as an Example. When they report on the Arizona Legislation to curtail Illegal Immigration, it is almost always from vantage point of illegals and Ethno Centric Lefties that oppose the Bill and very little to voice the legitimate concerns of 70% of the rest of us who favor it and how bad a problem Illegal Immigration is.

Other Options

Somewhat off question. But I will actually use more sources for news then broadcast media. There are some solid sites to get news stories from that will give you insight you might not find on networks. Christian Science Monitor, The Economist, Newsmax, etc. all give you information you are not likely to find on TV and especially Glenn Beck or god forbid Keith Doberman(MSNBC)

Fox was the first station to recognize that there is a market for reenforcing people's views and not hiding bias any longer.

They are better than most stations at hyping up any and all issues, and are more willing to filter the facts in a way that inflames the situation to the maximum.

Fox's goal is simple -- get the Republicans whipped into a fury by endlessly talking about how the Democrats wish to derail the democratic agenda of america to replace it with socialism...and get the demorats whipped into a fury by doing the same

it's an endless news cycle designed to make as much money as possible and has little or no interest in facts or getting stories right...or breaking stories

Fox has become a sounding board/test station for GOP ideas...they are planted with one or more commentators, reenforced in the news. If it takes off, they hype it until it fades, if it doesn't take off, they switch and try something else.

The pretty faces and such are merely more proof that the selection process for picking a newsperson or reporter has little or nothing to do with their skills, their integrity or their ability to dig into a news story. It's all about selling the propaganda with a straight and pretty face.

There was no question about what is MSNBC or CNN, so I am not addressing those.

I am a liberal, I am left of center but I have to admit that anyone who listens and believes either side, Right or Left is a fool, look into any topic that interests you, search any and all angles and come to your own conclusion and don't blindly accept the one being fed to you, OPEN YOUR EYES AND QUESTION EVERYTHING. The biggest moron that people listen too by far is Ann Coulter, the incarnation of a bastard child fathered by Hitler and Satan(and I am serious not sarcastic), I'm all for freedom of speech but certain people ought to be ignored and or eradicated from the Earth, the stuff that comes out of her mouth, unreal.
