Dr. Jack - Clarification Please

I would like to get a clarification on the matter of "editing" of posts submitted by the membership.

By "editing" I mean changing the "quote" to make it appear that the person actually said what is in the quote. In other words, falsifying a quote in an attempt to embarass a member of CM.

I have never posted the contents of that quote, yet Judge has "doctored" the quote to implicate me.

I remember a while back, I corrected a supposed typo (1 word) in a quote for BCBADGAL and a mod was quick to chastize me for doing so.

Now Judge has gone on to create an entire bogus quote attributed to me.

I would like to get an official ruling from you in regards to the editing or falsifying of someone else's quotes.

I'm not embarrassed.

I just want to know what the rule is so that everyone abides by them.

If nobody was embarrassed, no harm was done, correct?

Do you hoestly consider yourself victimized by what he posted skippy?

Editing quotes is allowed within a certain time frame after a poster posts a post. No editing of plays is allowed for any contest for any member.

As far as the quoting issue. I am not aware of any official rule at the mall on this. I guess we will deal with it on a case by case basis. I do not believe that judge was breaking our other key rules, attacing a member or crossing the line as far as what he wrote.

The thing that was most offensive is the how you think the mods should act. To insinuate that you can post whatever you want and if someone happens to take it the wrong way then the mods can just ban them. The goal of the forum is to grow membership. Obviously a cavalier attitude in baning is not really going to help us achieve that goal.

I feel the powers that be at the mall have done everything they can do to try and improve this very process. The basement is a perfect example of this. A place to vent and get away with more than normal. The basement allows for a little more flexability and shows the mall is willing to adapt to the members needs.

I am not embarrassed.....not at all.

I edited ONE word in BCBADGAL's quote and a mod was quick to admonish me for it. It was within minutes.

Yet when a mod does the editing in a malicious manner, nothing is said.

That is why I am asking for the clarification.

My post in the "potato chips" thread was deleted because Deck thought that others may take the opportunity to bash me or BBP. All I meant was that if bashing does occur, the mods have the power to use the BAN button because NO bashing is one of the fundamental rules of this forum.

CM should work to increase membership, I agree with you whole-heartedly.

I don't want this type of behaviour to turn into a free-for-all where anyone can make up bogus quotes and attribute it to whoever they please.

Perhaps some sort of guideline is required to keep this type of action in check before it gets out of hand.

LOL.....that "report a post" button is great if you aren't reporting a mod.
