i figured as much, but a car with a whole extra set of front seats just chilling in the back seat might seem suspicious

Tell em you bought them at flea market for $100 and they should leave you alone.
If you try to lie they will fuk with you. Pretty hard to say you brought them with you on the trip there.

which border are you going through? NH or VT?
the NH is known for being more of a PITA because it is the I-91 corridor. you could get a lot easier through the I-89 corridor or any of the other VT borders.

make sure you declare it, if you have a receipt for say $100 it would make your life easier, but if you have an a-hole as patrol he can choose to use fair market value.

you might have to pay some taxes on it, but be thankful is not you trying to bring stuff into canada, that is a PITA.

Just looked it up for you:

The duty-free exemption, also called the personal exemption, is the total value of merchandise you may bring back to the United States without having to pay duty. You may bring back more than your exemption, but you will have to pay duty on it. In most cases, the personal exemption is US$800.

The exemption is only US$200 if either of the following apply:

* You have been outside of the U.S. for less than 48 hours.
* You have have used your personal exemption on a previous trip outside the U.S. within the previous 30 days.

I'll be in Canada for all of like 2 hours, literally picking the stuff up and turning around, and Zoom I believe the fastest way to the guys house was through Vermont on the 89 so that should help based on your response.

Fair value for these seats is probably over 500 bux, however they are from a 1991 model year, so I dunno how an agent would be able to figure that out, but I might just take all my seats out on the drive up and sit in the guys driveway for a half hour and put the news ones back in and just stick my old drivers side seat in a dumpster somewhere.
