Drug Testing w/ Hair Samples

It was announced that 10 people in our office will be randomly selected on Monday for a drug test. Now I don't care about this because I do not use drugs, but I am concerned with the alcohol testing. In case you did not know, hair samples are also tested for excessive alcohol use. I do not consider myself an alcoholic but I like to drink a 6 pack on Friday and Saturday. Is anyone familiar with alcohol testing on hair? What I do not like is the fact that they have guidelines for "excessive" and "moderate." Like I said, I am clean and have nothing to worry about if I am selected, but I do believe this whole thing is an invasion of privacy. Is the HR dept going to view people differently based on moderate consumption compared to excessive?

If you shave your head they will take it from the legs or elsewhere, you would have to shave your whole body which would look pretty guilty, but I wouldnt worry about it, I dont even think they can tell if you drink alcohol and even if they can they wouldnt be able to tell how much, two six packs a week isnt going to get you in trouble

Don't worry about booze they can't terminate you for drinking unless it is effecting your work. Alcohol is legal and if you drink on your time it is none of their business half of them are probably drunks anyways.

When they test they test the area that is located beneath the scalp by the root of the hair follicale. Basically the area that the shampoo can't penetrate, the fatty tissue.

I am not trying to hide from anything. I will gladly take the test if I am selected, no big deal. I just don't like the fact that THEY have parameters for moderate to excessive drinkers. What is it proving to them? It is bullshit to me but oh well.
