DSLR Cameras

I currently have a compact camera but I'm looking at getting a DSLR because the photo quality is much better. Any recommendations for something $1000 or less? I don't need the top of the line. I'm leaning towards a Canon X3i.

That is a good one. Bought the girl a Nikon D3100 with a added zoom lens........plus a case, SD card, lens covers, hdmi cable, 3 HR warranty for around 1100. Awesome camera......excellent stirrups too.

I personally own the Canon EOS Rebel T2i EF-S 18-55IS II and absolutely love it. I tricked it out with a few upgrades (Battery Grip, Dual Extended Life Batteries, External Flash, High Capacity/Speed SD Card, and a couple of additional lenses). It takes some amazing photos. I've heard nothing but good things about the newer model Canon EOS Rebel T3i 18-55mm IS II.

i just placed an order for the Canon EOS Rebel T3i with 18-55mm IS II and 55-250mm IS telephoto lens. i can't wait to get this thing.

i'll probably end up investing in a battery grip and external flash later
