Easiest Way to Calculate Pot Odds in One Step

MOST SIMPLE POT ODDS YOU’LL EVER NEED :

TAKE YOUR OUTS AND MULTIPLY BY NUMBER OF CARD STREETS LEFT ...

For example :
You hold a JD , 9D
on the button in a 6 player 100/200 No Limit hold em game.

A full table limps in.
The flop is 10 S , QH , 5C ,.
The pot is $ 1200 .

Suppose someone bets $ ½ the pot or $ 600 .
You’d have to call $ 600 to win $ 1800 (your prior bet doesn’t count) .
This is about 3/1 pot odds.

You have J,9 (10 , Q SHOWING ) : an 8 and k = 8 outs left x 2 x 2 streets left (turn + river)
= 32
Or about a 1/3 chance of hitting your hand.
Alternatively there’s about a 70% chance of losing your hand
However since its only $ 600 to win $ 1800 you would make the call.

HOWEVER THERE’S ALWAYS A CATCH :

Lets say the flop is 10S , QS , 5C .There’s a possible flush draw for the bettor .
Now you have to take away KS , 8S that can beat you making it 6 outs.
6 x 2 x 2 = 24
Your odds dropped to 25% ...
You’d have to decide If you’re feeling lucky , if he has a pair of Q’s,
Is it a “Feeler” bet ...

Some considerations .
What is your chip count vs the player who bet?
What’s your cash limit vs his ?
Are you in a tourney early or late?

POT ODDS are only one factor of the game ,
others are your chip count vs other bettor , cash or tourney game ,
position , but most importantly :
WHAT DO YOU THINK HE’S BETTING WITH :
AND WHAT DO YOU THINK HE THINKS YOU HAVE ?

its a lot easier just to time your outs by 4 after the flop to give you a pct, then by 2 after the turn. In your scenerio you would time 8 outs by 4 after the flop (32%) then by two after the turn (16%).
