Economy is eating me alive

I have been in business for 19 years and I am now down to a skelton crew. At one time I had 6 people working for me but as of now I am once again on my own. Workmans comp and insurance was eating me alive. Now that I am on my own I can actually get ahead or at least that is my hope. California is in the shitter and no one is building new homes in my area. One home went up all summer so my install business is next to nothing. At 47 I did not plan on working this hard. The family farm is making killings but my business is dead. Any others out there struggling with the times ? California will be the first to fall. They just raised my water bill to $110 a month and its not even good water. Small towns are dieing on the vine so we get hit hard for the simpliest things in life. Economy is a phucken joke.

New home building permits in my city of 100k was 19 last August. I just heard on the news last night there was 6 permits issued this past August.

I'm a freight broker. My business is down 50% from 2 years ago.

I seen it coming and panicked. Sold all my toys, snowmobiles/4-wheelers/trailers. Have my wife/kids/house/car/truck/paid off camper. We will survive but it's sure cut down on the "fun".

With that said, gotta go. Leave for Vegas in 3 hours!
