ESPN should stand up and publicly challenged the Online Gambling Ban!

ESPN can pretend that it does not support online gambling but it does. You can go to espn.com at most times of the day and find advertisements for various online poker sites.

Although ESPN advertises the dot net version which is mostly the free version of these sites, I find it hard to believe that ESPN does not know that same site offers internet gambling for money.

Is ESPN naïve? I don’t think so. Common sense would lead us to believe that the Absolute Poker site is paying ESPN a fortune for this advertising space. ESPN also features a poker section on their site at http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/poker.

The online gambling industry needs a major media player to help the cause the ESPN should be that voice. ESPN covers the WSOP among many other poker tournaments.

I personally challenge ESPN to step up to the plate and voice their displeasure with the online poker ban. I have sent this thread to ESPN and asked for an official answer

I don't think Family Friendly ABC would ever stand up for something as "immoral" as gambling; no matter how hypocritical that statement may be.
But nice try Johnny-boy!! Keep up the good work buddy!!

Johnny, it would be nice if ESPN would take a stand on the issue but the parent company (Disney) ia not likey to allow it. Unfortunately, sports gambling is not nearly accepted in main stream society like poker is becoming.

We are on our own in this fight, boys. All we can do is let our elected officials know how we feel about this. I may be mistaken but my guess is that less than 25% of Cappers Mall members have expressed their views on Internet gambling to their Congressmen and Senators. If my estimate is even close then it is time for some of you guys to step up. ESPN is not likey to be our hero in this.
