evolution of sports (dark side)

All the major u.s. sports have evolved a dark side in rescent years, EVERY SINGLE ONE has a major problem right now.

MLB Baseball- Sterroids, HGH, Clemens and Bonds and Congress.

NFL Football- The world finds out the Patriots were cheating all this time, who before this year were the model team for profesionalism. Plus players like Rodney Harrison using HGH and other NFL players, simular to baseball but not scrutinized nearly as much.

NBA Basketball-
Tim Doneghy a freaking refferee fixing games ATS. This one has been kept quiet basically swept under the rug by david stern somehow.

Even NCAA football has the Reggie Bush scandal now, and NCAA Basketball and Calvin Sampson breaking all the rules. My question is , did things turn south rescently for major American Sports, or is it just that the media is a different animal today?

I really think cheating has been around since the very beginning. Don't forget about the "Shot Heard 'Round the World!" in 1951. The Giants were accused of stealing signs from inside the scoreboard at the Polo Grounds. Add to that the 24/7 media coverage today and nothing is escaping notice.

One thing that I think adds to the cheating today is that there is just so much money at stake, there is just too much money to be made by cheating.

So I guess my answer is Yes and No lol

I'd say 60% of NFL players have taken some banned substance in their lifetime

i would hope so lol

Id be SHOCKED if the number was lower then 75% though, especially the NFL.
lolstern is amazing, you dont here a peep about doneghy anymore.

I think people cheat if they think they can get away with it. Every area of the world people are cheating in some way tho i guess, so kind of foolish of me to be suprised that sports are aswell.

I just didnt expect every sport at the same time to be in deep shit ethicly, or what ever you want to call it.

I think there has always been a dark side to each of the major sports, it's just that the media today has so many more ways of getting information that some scandal is bound to be exposed.

You've got certain media groups that are existing right now solely for the purpose of digging for the juicy tidbits that the masses wanna hear, and they're flush with the money needed to succeed. Heck, they'll even invent a scandal if that's what will get attention and make money for 'em.
