Extended Warranties

Who gets them and who don`t get them? I get them on everything I buy.

IMHO they are a waste most (but not all) of the time. Fact is, if the product you have purchased is a piece of junk, you'll know that within the original warranty period. For some electronic items I recommend it, like a CD player--anything with a laser that tends to wear out. But never ever for a TV. And certainly never for an item that is not all that costly.

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

With cars, if you get them at cost..then it might be worth doing...but with a dealership, they might get the warranty at 700 and charge you 2200 for it.

never get them. if you do your research you should buy a quality product; if its a fluke and it breaks it will usually happen in the first year.
Also, get it through stores that offer their own free extended warranty. Bought a TV from Costco a few years ago. warranty had just expired, their "concierge" service got on the line with the manufacturer and they hashed out a plan. Someone came to my house and replaced every part needed, free of charge. Best part was that, after a claim, the warranty restart it again.

When I got my floors done at my house I bought it, also items like new counter tops, projection TV sets(the whole thing) Just high ticket items that if they broke I really don't feel like paying for it again.

Regular flat screens and kitchen appliances I really don't worry about because although it would suck buying another one it still wouldn't be worth it to me getting the warranty

My truck (bought it used) and my DLP TV. It's funny that after the warranty expired on my TV, I got notices every month lol.

the companies have warranties to get a return, no to lose money on their product.

as someone who sells warranties, they are a huge money maker. i would say 9 out of 10 times the customer does not get their money's worth for the cost of the warranty.
