Facts for May 6th

When pitched, the average major league baseball rotates 15 times before being hit.

At the ripe old age of 88, sprinter Duncan MacClean ran a 100-yard race in only 14 seconds. MacClean first became known in the running world after running the same distance in 9.9 seconds back in 1904.

In 1905, the Stanley Cup literally got kicked across the Rideau Canal. During drunken celebrations, team members watched as one of the players of the Ottawa Silver Seven attempted the stunt. The morning after, players groggily started remembering their foolish actions and rushed back to the site. Luckily the canal was completely frozen and the Cup layed on top.

The Stanley Cup was once used as a comedy sketch on the Late Show with David Letterman. This 1994 sketch was called the "Stupid cup tricks."
