Famed Philadelphia Sports Writer Bill Conlin accused of Molesting four Children
This people are animals:
PHILADELPHIA — A prominent Philadelphia sportswriter abruptly retired Tuesday as three women and one man accused him of sexually molesting them when they were children in the 1970s, according to an investigation by The Philadelphia Inquirer. Enlarge This Image Mike Groll/Associated Press Four accusers have said the columnist Bill Conlin sexually abused them in the 1970s. The sportswriter, Bill Conlin, 77, a member of the news media wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame and a columnist for The Philadelphia Daily News for more than four decades, abused the children when they were from ages 7 to 12, they told The Inquirer in graphic detail in an article posted on the paper’s Web site. Conlin could not be reached for comment. His lawyer, George Bochetto, said in a statement: “Mr. Conlin is obviously floored by these accusations, which supposedly happened 40 years ago. He has engaged me to do everything possible to bring the facts forward to vindicate his name.” Prosecutors in Gloucester County, N.J., where the molestation is said to have occurred, told the paper they could not bring charges against Conlin because the statute of limitations had expired in cases of abuse that occurred before 1996. The families of Conlin’s accusers did not go to the police in the 1970s but instead confronted him, The Inquirer said. The four accusers gave statements to the authorities a year ago, the paper reported. One of the accusers, a niece of Conlin’s, is Kelley Blanchet, now 47 and a prosecutor in Atlantic City. She told the paper that she attended the funeral of Conlin’s wife in 2009 and became concerned when she learned that Conlin had grandchildren. Blanchet said she told her story to a female relative, who confided that Conlin had also abused her when she was a child, The Inquirer reported. The accusers told the paper they were emboldened to speak publicly after painful memories were dredged up in the wake of the accusations of sexual abuse made by 10 boys against Jerry Sandusky, a former football assistant at Penn State. Conlin’s accusers also said they wanted to call attention to their frustration over the statutes of limitation that govern sex crimes. In a recent column, Conlin questioned those who said they would have intervened had they seen Sandusky molesting a child, as the assistant Mike McQueary has testified he witnessed. “Everybody says he will do the right thing, get involved” and put his reputation on the line, Conlin wrote. “But the moment itself has a cruel way of suspending our fearless intentions.” Larry Platt, the editor of The Daily News, told The Inquirer, a sister paper located in the same building, “I can’t even begin to express the shock, sadness and outrage I feel by what Bill Conlin is alleged to have done.”

best part about it is that a reporter at a rival paper did the investigation, the same company owns both the inquirer and daily news, and allowed the piece to be done and even supported by the inquirer top editor to boost sales and publicity. dude is a complete ****ing loser and deserves life in jail where hopefully he gets raped

Reminds me of the old joke:
A man gets sentenced to prison and is brought to meet his new cellmate... Bubba, who is about 6'-8" and 275 pounds. Upon entering the cell, Bubba says "You wanna play house?"... the trembling man answers "Okay...", to which Bubba replies "You wanna be the mommy or the daddy?", the man answers "uhhh... Daddy!"... Bubba grins and says "Good, 'cuz Mommy needs a blow job".
