As a fan can you still appreciate greatness of players on teams you hate or rivals?

Example I hate the Patriots but appreciate that Tom Brady is one of the greatest.

Can you separate it or does everyone suck just because on the team you hate?

I can hate the Lakers all I want, but begrudgingly admit and appreciate that Kobe Bryant could arguably, at his peak, be the greatest basketball player on the planet.

hey jack can you ever acknowledge the greatness of chipper?

i don't really have a team i hate, maybe the cowboys, and they don't have any current players that warrant any label of greatness

hate peyton manning but always respect that if his team still has a chance to win, most likely he's gonna come close or actually do it..

Sure can! I hate the New York Jets, but like Mark Sanchez. I think he`s going to be one of the greats at quarterback.

I can separate the two, even if it costs my team a game. I remember when the Leafs were in game 7 at home against the LA games some 15 years ago. Gretzky took the game over, was dominant, a presence, willed his team to a victory. He had goals, set up assists, and proved why he is on the best players to lace up a pair of skates.

I was really upset the Leafs lost, but I did witness, one of the great players doing what what great players are suppose to do in a game 7.
