Is Fantasy Football Good for Cappers?

i remember last year when i was capping a game. i liked a Team A to beat Team B but then i had the QB for Team B as my starting QB in a money fantasy league and i think subconsiciously i was rating Team B better because i was wanting the QB to put up big numbers and it just screwed with my head. Does that every happen to anyone here?

kinda like betting against your own team.

I have the same problem. I really only cap hockey seriously and i find it very difficult to be on one of my starting goalies teams to lose, even in all reality it is a good bet to go against them. The way i counter it, is that i can make money on the then and now bet, where fantasy is a combination of performance over the entire season. We all know that in any fantasy sport, no one player is going to be a stud every game of the season.

yup,

in football its more drastic. only one game a week and if your QB shits the bed, u are most likely gonna lose that week.

it would be kinda like wanting to bet the ravens over the packers, but you have aaron rodgers as your QB. kinda hard to do well in both even though it is possible.

it can help if you can be rational.

you cant look at MJD putting up 22pts a week and think the jaguars are really good because of that.

it helps me keeping with injuries.

Similar to betting on games involving your favorite team.

Are you someone that only bets "for" your favorite team and never against them - then fantasy is probably bad for you, as it increases those teams.

But if you're someone who can also bet "against" your favorite team, fantasy gives you another source of information, or at least gives you players, teams, matchups that you know more about and follow more closely. For example, if my starting QB is Philip Rivers I know what teams he matches up well against and what teams he doesnt. I make sure to try to pick players with good matchup weeks in playoff weeks of fantasy. I wont know quite as much about other QBs in the league.

Any info is good info, as long as you use it properly

When I have been in fantasy football, I admit that I try to separate the two, but it isn't easy. However, when it comes down to winning money or a fantasy league game, I would take the money every day of the week!

That`s what I try to tell my Brother, but he says it messes him up. Then again he`s a 49er homer.

Speaking of fantasy football, if people are looking for a good site to use, try: Fantasy Football League Management from MyFantasyLeague.com & its great for scoring.

The more time you have the more you can do both without a problem, but i never found FF to help much with game capping. Injuries is a good point, it does make you sensitive to those things, but today in nfl especially almost all injuries are well-known before game time
