The Shelby SuperCars (SCC) Ultimate Aero already has quite an astonishing CV. It's is the world's fastest production car (bettering even Bugatti's mighty Veyron) with a recorded top speed of 256mph, it has 1,183bhp, and it can crack 0-60mph in 2.78 seconds.

But that apparently wasn't enough, because the 2009 version has broken cover with a mind-blowing 1,208bhp. Credit crunch? Environment? What are those things?

The new SCC Ultimate Aero will shave precious milliseconds from the current car's physics-defying 0-60mph dash. It will keep going until it hits 270mph too, further widening the gap between it and everything else with four wheels.

The update also sees the American hypercar get a redesigned front bumper for better aerodynamics, bigger side air intakes and, for the first time, an air brake system. The AeroBrake is a carbon fibre rear spoiler that lifts by up to eight inches under heavy braking to subsidise the already huge disc brakes. The interior is overhauled too, as befits any new model year facelift, though you might want to concentrate on the road ahead more than admiring new switchgear.

There's no word on the price yet, but the current car costs around $650,000 in the States depending on spec. Expect a slight increase on that if you're budgeting for one.

I'd have absolutely no use for such a car as that Shelby. If i'd win such a car I'd put it for sale on the auction block. How much would it fetch...half of 700k? I'd buy a customized Hummer with that 350k no questions asked.

Yeah, kind of scary when they tested the Veyron on Top Gear, you can only operate it at close to top speed for like 10-15 min before the tires disintegrate.
