To a real sports fan I say football, average person Ripken, just because of the number being so high

Both streaks are impressive. Favre getting tackled and beaten to the ground once a week is impressive. Ripken never sat once for a rest day is impressive.

I will have to pick Favre because football is a physical game and baseball is not.

?????Baseball is not physical

There are no colored jerseys for practice in baseball

I don't remember seeing anyone trying to tackle Ripken while he's playing short

your right Dave the idea was never to tackle....that is football...but breaking up double plays, sliding and working everyday?
Who here has never missed a day of work for 15 years while under the scrutiny of the press

easy answer in favre ... not even in the same ballpark IMO ... one is a guy just dodging injuries such as strained muscles and band-aid cuts ... the other is avoiding broken bones and death...

Ripken much more impressive. Only player close to Ripken is the man he beat for the record. After that no one has half as many games streak wise.
Peyton Manning already at the 200 mark Jim Marshall played 282 on defence.

Not so easy IMO. I agree football is the tougher sport... definitely a huge point in the debate. But Ripkin plays 162 games a year. Farve 16. That is huge when something as simple as a muscle strain can sideline an athelete.

In baseball players hurt themselves celebrating lol. And don't say it happens in football too. Gramatica doesn't count

Favre

Ripken never got blind-side sacked by a 300-lb man.

I do remember Ripken saying once after he passed Gehrig, that he would have missed for the birth of any of his children, but by sheer luck they were all born on scheduled off days, which aren't that common during the season.
