To paraphrase the Fed's statement this afternoon:

"After ****ing up the United States economy with 17 straight rate hikes, we've decided to pause. Thanks and good luck with $80 crude oil."

Well said Jerome!!! on a more serious note, do you think you could play a series of $10k bets on the Royals, just to make the baseball pod contest a little more interesting for the rest of us. You have absolutely kicked the crap out of everyone.

for the blokes the federal reserve is a private instituition not affiliated with the US govt

I know Etown is getting a "stoner, conspiracy theory, hate my own country, not well informed" boner, so I am ruining his buzz

Actually, only the federal reserve banks are private entities... the Board of Governers is an independant government agency.... but the policies set forth by the Fed do not have to be approved, ratified, or in any way obstructed with by any branch of the federal government.

Anyone get a chance to hear or read the language of their statement.

I'm still wagering were at 5.5 by year's end.

Off topic: Anyone think we're ever going to get away from this idea of core inflation - or at the least refining the term a bit?
