Dr. Jack,
I'm a moderator on the poker section of the forum whose name you deleted. I understand that as we have the same policy. However, I hope you allow this post to remain so that your members can see how 2 ordinary 'amateur' poker players have been treated by a poker site. Goalpoker itself may not be known, but as it runs through the Absolute Poker network some of you may be familiar with some of the Goalpoker branded tournaments that is in the Absolute Poker lobby. As it stands Goalpoker have not accepted any liability for their actions... DREAM WRECKERS GoalPoker have that label after Thursday 20th July, when they sent e-mails out to Andrew Fenwick, a fireman from York, and Joe Geraghty, a union employee in Plymouth informing them that their trip of a life-time to the World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas was cancelled due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’. This e-mail was sent to Joe and Andy only eight days after GoalPoker, its employees, journalists, scantily clad models and some poker players returned from Ibiza, where they enjoyed the World Cup Final on a big screen and unlimited booze, all at GoalPokers expense. Nick Fitt, CEO of GoalPoker said of the party:- "The whole weekend was amazing. Over 150 people partied massively; Journalists, poker players, models and staff all got down to the serious business of celebrating the World Cup Final GoalPoker style. I am so proud to have been involved. My heartfelt thanks go out to all the organisers, players and guests for making such a memorable weekend! GoalPoker.com has pulled off yet another first!" Joe and Andy were both present at this event, having won their seats through specially organised tournaments, and viewed this weekend as the beginning of what was possibly a life changing period of their lives. They were expecting like thousands of other internet qualifiers to be sent to represent a poker site at the WSoP, where the buy-in for the event alone is $10,000, and the winner is expected to walk away with $10,000,000. This is not an impossible dream either, as the last three World Champions have all qualified in this manner, and the reigning champion, Joe Hachem was a chiropodist. Joe qualified buy finishing top of GoalPokers leader board tournament, which took up a gruelling 8 months of his time, whilst Andy qualified on the 26th June in an online qualifying tournament. Both were expecting to receive a $10,000 buy in to the Main Event, and $2,000 in expenses to help cover the cost of accommodation, and they were advised by a Goal poker representative to make sure they had booked at least a week off work. Now they can only expect to watch the coverage on TV. This is what the e-mail contained; Quote:

Valiant23pl, as you alluded to, your post is an example of a more appropriate way to post this information. I agree that this is something that gamblers should be made aware of and your and Vitalyo's perspective on this unfortunate situation is certainly appreciated.
Welcome to Cappers Mall and please don't be a stranger.
